The State Healthcare Facility "City Clinical Emergency Hospital No 25" is the largest multi-field emergency hospital in the city of Volgograd and the Volgograd region. Hospital capacity: 821 beds in the day and night hospital, 61 beds of resuscitation and intensive care, 40 beds of a day hospital (15 are for gynecology department, 20 are for gastroenterological department, 5 are for rheumatology department)

The history of the hospital dates back to March 1977, when the Volgograd City Executive Committee of the Volgograd City Council of People's Deputies (Gorispolkom) decided to build the largest ambulance hospital in the city for a million population of the hero city of Volgograd. And the first patient entered the hospital in the 22nd of December 1978 .

Since the opening of the hospital, from the first three departments - the reception, radiology and gastroenterology - in the first year of work the ideal hospital structure was formed. Organized departments were able to provide the population with almost any kind of assistance.   

The Union of Practical Health and Higher Medical School helped to transform the hospital into the largest clinical base, which not only provided specialized medical assistance to the city's population, but also participated in the training of medical personnel for regional healthcare, fraternal Union republics and foreign states.

An important role in the formation and development of the hospital, in the formation of its structure and selection of medical personnel was played by the Deputy of Volgograd City Executive Committee Anastasiya Morsakova, the chairman of the Volgograd Regional Public Healthcare Alexander Vorobyev, the first Chief of medicine of the hospital, Sergei Bessarab, the rector of the Volgograd State Medical Institute, Professor Yuri Perov.  And the foundation of clinical glory of this hospital was laid by Alexander Zborovsky, the Academician of RAMS, and brilliant doctors, innovators, excellent organizers: deputy chief physician of the hospital for surgical service Yurii Andreev, deputy chief medical officer Lyudmila Khudoleeva, Lidia Tsibizova, brilliant doctors cardiologists Eduard Guglin, Lyudmila Gizatulina, Alexandra Kabanova, Galina Krizhanovsky, Alexander Mogilevsky, surgeons head of the proctology department Rebikov Petrovich, Vladimir Altukhov, traumatologists head of the traumatology department Vladimir Odnoralov, Eduard Zhegurov, head of the rheumatology department, rheumatologist Eleonora Derevyanko, head of the endoscopic department, endoscopist Yuri Shemonayev, gastroenterology department head gastroenterologist Galina Koroleva. It is to these doctors, PROFESSIONALS, people with a capital letter, we are grateful for their heroic work, for the organization and establishment of new departments and services in city healthcare, for the result achieved. They took the hospital to the orbit of clinical glory, respect for colleagues, the desire of citizens and residents of the city and the Volgograd region to be treated right here - in the "City Clinical Emergency Hospital".

The chiefs of madicine who headed the hospital, formed the human resources, strengthened the material and technical base, organized new offices, services and types of assistance to the population since its opening:

1.      Sergei Vasilievich Bessarab (from 1978 to March 28, 1983);

2.      Leonid Arkadyevich Popov (from 1983 to June 24, 2003);

3.      Anatoly Ivanovich Egin (from June 25, 2003 to August 11, 2010);

4.      Alexander Sergeevich Popov (from August 12, 2010 to August 01, 2014);

5.      Natalia Viktorovna Lyakhova (from August 13, 2014 to August 30, 2020)

6.      Since October 14, 2020 – Marina Vladimirovna Koroleva   

Today, the State Healthcare Facility "City Clinical Emergency Hospital No 25" has in its structure 16 medical departments, 17 medical diagnostic and paraclinical departments, this is the largest hospital with a bed capacity of 883 beds. There are regional specialized centers and departments in the structure of the hospital which provide medical care to the population:

• Burns unit;
• Coloproctological department;
• Regional cardiovascular center for the treatment of patients with acute coronary syndrome and for the treatment of patients with acute impairment of cerebral circulation;
• Regional rheumatological center;
• Center for Acute Poisoning.

The qualified medical staff of the hospital provides the population of the Volgograd region with the most advanced and modern diagnostic and treatment technologies, such as:

• Clinicodiagnostic laboratory assesment with the use of laboratory automated complexes;
• X-ray inspections for computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound examination of organs on equipment of expert class, with high diagnostic potential;
• X-ray surgical methods for diagnosis and treatment of vascular pathology of the heart, brain, major vessels, vascular diseases of internal organs;
• Endoscopic treatment-diagnostic methods and interventions for diseases of the gastrointestinal tract;
• Minimally invasive operations, technology for the treatment of diseases of the digestive system, reproductive organs on the organs of the abdominal cavity, with joint injuries;
• High-tech treatment methods for the most significant diseases of the abdominal cavity organs, reproductive organs, diseases and injuries of the brain and spinal cord, neoplasm of the brain and spinal cord, benign neoplasms of the uterus, rheumatic disease and systemic diseases, with burn injury.

    Qualification of the personnel and strong material and technical equipment of the hospital make it possible to render assistance to 42 thousand citizens, residents of the region and visitors of the city for a year, more than 27 thousand of them in a hospital, more than 8,5 thousand surgical operations. For 1 year 42 thousand citizens have received help, 27 thousand of them - in a hospital, more than 8 thousand surgical operations are performed.

A powerful impact for improving medical care for the population and introducing modern medical and diagnostic technologies into practice was given by the state programs for the development of healthcare - the Healthcare Modernization Program 2012-2013, the federal targeted program for assistance to victims of road accidents on federal routes, the infrastructure development program health of the Volgograd region 2015-2017. Thanks to government support, in 2012-2013, specialized units of the hospital for in-patients in cardiology department, cardiorehabilitation unit, neurological departments and intensive care unit were restored and equipped with medical equipment to help patients with acute cerebrovascular accident. This allowed the organization of a regional cardiovascular center in the hospital to assist patients with acute myocardial infarction, as well as to help patients with acute cerebrovascular accident.

The implementation of the federal target program of assistance to victims in the accident made it possible to organize a department of anti-shock measures in the hospital with an operating room in the immediate vicinity of the admission department, to purchase and install a 64-slice computer tomograph. And in a functional connection with traumatological, neurosurgical and resuscitation departments it made real to organize traumatological center of the 1st level. This allowed the implemented measures to significantly reduce the waiting time for assistance to victims from the moment they entered the hospital, and to provide surgical assistance as quickly as possible, which together had a positive effect on the results of treatment - to reduce lethality in this group of patients.

The ongoing activities under the Volgograd District Healthcare Infrastructure Development Program 2015-2017 represent a major modernization of the hospital, unprecedented in scope and scope of funding:

• Construction of an emergency medical care department for 150-200 calls a day with a powerful diagnostic service - a clinical diagnostic laboratory, an endoscopy room, a department for radiation diagnostics (X-ray room, CT, ultrasound), a functional diagnostics room, an anti-shock surgery room, an intensive care unit for 6 beds, a hall for hyperbaric oxygenation with two devices, doctors' reception rooms for specialists;
• Construction of the helipad;
• Thorough overhaul of all spesialized departments of the hospital previously not included in the modernization program of 2012-2013;
• Equipping the hospital with medical diagnostic equipment, which allows to conduct diagnostic studies and interventions at the most modern level, to expand the range of high-tech types of medical care;
• Thorough overhaul of the operating unit (12 operating rooms) with regime auxiliary cabinets, their equipping with modern surgical, anesthetic equipment;
• Thorough overhaul of the facade of the medical building and the operating unit, which will give the institution an irresistible aesthetics and beauty;
• Improvement of the territory of the hospital complex.

The implementation of this program can safely be considered the second birth of a hospital with a modernized potential for therapeutic and diagnostic capabilities. The program will allow the population of the Volgograd region to receive assistance at the most modern level, on the crest of the modern possibilities of medical science, to receive assistance here on the spot, rather than in federal clinics and centers, something that has never happened before.
